Keys
Everything can be done with the mouse alone. The keys are there to make it quicker. A key does nothing while a menu or a text box has the focus, or while the other side is acting.
In battle, on your man's turn
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
1 to 9 |
Arm that stroke of the weapon in hand, in the order the action bar shows them. Press it again to put it down |
A |

Change the ward to be struck from. The ward is taken with the next stroke, free of cost, or at once with Take it, for 1 point |
[ and ] |
Turn one face to the left or to the right, for 1 point |

I |

W |
Hold: step out of the order and act after the rest, keeping up to 4 points back |
E |
End turn |
Escape |
Put down the armed stroke or verb, close the kit, or close the wound chart a blow is being called on |
Arming a verb lights whoever it can be spent on. Click a lit man to spend it. A click anywhere else,
a right click or Escape only puts it down: nothing is ever spent by a stray click.
On the wound chart a blow is called on
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
1 to 9 |
Choose that stroke to call the blow with, if it is one the chart offers |
Tab, then Enter or Space |
Move through the parts listed beside the doll, and strike the blow at the one with the focus |
Escape |
Close the chart and go back to choosing who. Nothing has been spent |
Forming up, before the first turn
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
1 to 6 |
Stand the company in one of the 6 shapes, in the order the bar shows them |
[ and ] |
Turn the man in hand one face to the left or right. Nothing is spent before the battle |
Enter |
Begin the battle |
Escape |
Put down the man in hand. A right click does the same |
The kit
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
I or Escape |
Close the kit |
R |
While dragging a piece, turn it. A right click or a turn of the wheel does the same |
Enter or Space |
Select the piece that has the focus, to use the buttons on it |
Ctrl and a click |
Put the piece on, or take it in hand, as dragging it there would. Cmd on a Mac |
Alt and a click |
Stow the piece: into the pack in a fight, into the cart on the road |
The wound chart
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
Enter or Space |
On a part of the body that has the focus, show what has been done to it |
Tab moves the focus through the parts of the body, the chart's tabs and every button, as it does
anywhere on a page.
The mouse
- Hover over a man, a hex or a button to be told what it is. With a stroke armed, hovering over a lit man shows what the blow would do (see Striking).
- Click a man, on the map or in the order bar above it, to keep his wounds in view. Click a lit hex to walk there.
- Right click puts down whatever is armed or in hand.
On a touch screen a tap does what a click does, and the tooltip for a man or a lit target shows after the tap, since there is nothing to hover with.
The desktop build
F11 goes fullscreen and back. The browser's own keys for reloading and searching the page are
switched off, so a stray key cannot throw a battle away.
